About Thermoforming
Thermoforming is a manufacturing technology which, in simple terms, involves heating a flat plastic sheet until that sheet becomes pliable. This pliable sheet is then drawn down and perimeter-sealed against a purpose built tool. A vacuum is then created between the tool and the pliable sheet, creating a pressure differential which results in atmospheric pressure forcing the pliable sheet to conform to the surfaces of the tool. As the formed sheet cools it becomes rigid and retains its formed shape. This formed part will then normally pass through several additional levels of secondary operations before final inspection and packaging for shipment.
